Do you guys also have those lazy days when you don’t feel like doing anything at all?
Especially in recent times, since Covid-19 we all have been locked inside our home. Staying inside the home, away from the world has made us sluggish and lethargic. We are working from home but our productivity has reduced linearly with time at the same time staying inside is necessary for our own good. So how do you guys manage to wake up every day and do the work that needs to be done? I guess you do it because you don’t have any other option, isn’t it? I mean we can’t take eternal leaves from our work. And the more you delay it, the more it piles up.
Honestly, I don’t like this feeling at all. Yeah, I do wish to take a day off and literally do nothing but at least on those days my mood is good and I end up spending the day relaxing by reading a book or watch a movie. The next day I feel refreshed. But when I feel mentally down and don’t want to move from one spot, it makes me more irritated. On those days I don’t even feel like getting out of bed. Now, this can happen because of multiple reasons. At times people have a medical condition which usually keeps them in a lethargic state.
But soon enough we realize that we do need to finish our work, whether it is related to our job or household chores. Can we overcome this state of mind and productively do our work? Yes, we can!
Follow the 2-minute rule–
The 2-minute rule says that if a task or work can be completed in just 2-minutes then do it immediately. There is no meaning in delaying a task that can be finished in such a short time.
Do the 5-1 countdown–
Anytime you get distracted or want to leave the work in the mid-process, count slowly from 5-1. It usually calms you down and makes you patient.
Try doing the easiest task of the day in the morning-
Usually, when we are not having the urge to work, it is better to do the task which takes the least effort on our side. Doing this will give you a sense of accomplishment and will change your mood a bit.
Mix the boring task with a bit of entertainment-
Suppose you are doing some household chores, you can play some music while doing the work. You can groove along with the music and finish the task in no time.
Keep distractions on the bay-
On the other hand, while doing the task that needs your complete attention, it is better to keep all distraction away like your mobile phone or TV. The Netflix series you want to finish will still be there when you will finish your task.
Ask for help-
It is okay to ask for help from the people around you, doesn’t matter whether you are at home or office. It is said that when you ask for help from your colleagues it increases your productivity because you get to learn from each other share those skills and special tricks you found out.
Reward yourself once in a while-
If you got out of your bed and got the job done even though you didn’t want to, then pat your own back and do something that makes you happy. Rewards motivate you to move ahead.
Focus on using your strengths-
Everyone knows their own strengths and weakness. We know what we are good at, so use that skill and target to finish the related tasks and get it out of your To-Do list. This will amplify your energy level and push you to finish the rest of the work as well.
Make action plans and To-Do lists-
Plan your day ahead. If you create a list of tasks that needs to be done and make an action plan on how to do it at least a day before, the next day you don’t have to stress much on how to do and what to do part of the work.
Stop going for perfection-
Trying to be perfect is not going to make you productive, it is only going to demoralize you more. Rather try approaching on doing a quality job.
Set realistic goals-
Break your bigger goals into smaller ones. And try keeping your daily goals simpler and doable so that you don’t feel overwhelmed about them daily.
Try giving positive enforcement to yourself-
When we are feeling down or lazy, we start negatively talking to ourselves. Like for example, “I am never going to finish this task on time.” Rather say to yourself that, “I will try my best to finish as much as I can.”
Take small breaks in between work-
When you take small breaks in between your work, you reset your brain and feel energized again.
Maintain a high-protein diet-
If you are feeling lazy for a longer period, it is better to keep a check on your diet. Eating high carbs diet can make you lethargic whereas having a high protein diet keeps you active for a longer time. Also, try avoiding processed food for some days.
Exercise 2-3 times a week-
Even if you are a person who doesn’t like to exercise or doesn’t have the time, try to exercise at least 2-3 times a week for 20 mins. This keeps your health in check.
Consult a doctor-
If after following all the above steps, you feel down and lazy then try consulting a doctor. It might be a medical condition that is making you feel so. In such a case, it is better to get the proper medication and treatment.
Idleness is the dead sea that swallows all virtues.

Decide what it is you want, write it down, review it constantly, and each day do something that moves you towards those goals.
– Jack Canfield
This one particular book is worth reading for people trying to achieve whatever they want in life. Jack Canfield who is an motivational speaker, an entrepreneur and an author has jacked up all self-help books into one in this book. Jack has taken real life stories from all over the world achievers and has written along with the principles to guide you to take one step at a time towards success.
There are total of 64 chapters in this book as in 64 principles. I guess many of you might prefer to read a book in one go but what I felt as a good approach to read this book is to take it one chapter at a time. Read one chapter and try implementing it in your life and when you feel the changes visible within you, go to the next chapter.
This principles not only helps you to achieve your goals but also give you confidence that you can actually do it. It also helps you becoming a better version of yourself and remove all the negative aspects of your personality. It will change your perspective towards how you solve the problems you are facing in life.
What makes it believable is that Jack has mentioned the case studies about situations faced by real life successful people and how they took actions, made changes to achieve their dreams and on today’s date they are known for their achievements.
Plus with this book comes a free online complimentary course, which will help you understanding how to implement and learn those principles. And the very first principle that is taught in this book is to take 100% responsibility of your life. That means you shouldn’t blame life or circumstance or any other person for all the wrong happening in your life. Because you always a have choice to get out of a situation you are currently in. By taking full responsibility of your life, you take the first step towards gaining the confidence of changing your life.

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.
-Thomas Edison.
Well failure does hurt, doesn’t it?
When we fail, we feel as if our whole life has shattered. It hurts so much that we start questioning each and every aspect of our life. We get so demoralized that we give up at the same point. We feel ashamed of ourselves and think we are good for nothing.
Isn’t it right?
But we have so many examples in our society where people are very highly successful. And whenever they are questioned, how they achieved success, they start their story from the point of their failures. Why so?
That is because failure is a part of life. It is as important as is breathing. Is there is a single person who has never seen failure in life?
NO!
Do you know Walt Disney was told by his former editor that he lacked imagination and doesn’t have any good ideas. Can you believe it? A person who created all those cartoon shows was told that he lacked imagination!
J.K Rowling was broke, divorced, depressed and a single mother while she was writing the book “Harry Potter”. Her manuscript was rejected multiple times by many publishers and see where she is today. She is one of the richest writer in the world.
Do you know Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first job as a TV anchor and now she is a billionaire and has her own TV channel.
Take any field in life. Whether it is an exam, a job interview, a business that you started, your finances, relationships, any particular discovery and list go on and on. Everyone faced failure at some point in their life. Some people seem to fail in multiple fields as well.
What I feel is, failure makes us a much better and stronger person. Even when I failed in many fields of my life, every time I felt as if my life is done. It’s like everything seems darker and there is nowhere to go and nothing left to do. But on a longer run, I feel grateful that I failed. Because failure made me the person I am today. It gave me the strength to withstand anything that life throws in my path. It gave me the time to re-evaluate my flaws and seek out my interests.
Many times we pursue something in life because of pressure, or by emotional force or maybe at times we don’t even know what we want from life. Like, maybe you are pursuing a career or a field of study because your family wanted you to, or maybe you think it is a stable field to get settled in life or maybe you didn’t even know any better what other things you can do in life. So you continued with the thing and ended up failing.
And then you started asking, “Why me?”
“What did I do wrong?”
“Why everyone else got good marks but I couldn’t?”
“Why they got the promotion but I couldn’t?”
“Why did my relationship failed?”
“Why am I even doing this if all I get is disappointment?”
Believe me, everyone feels the same, but once you cross this particular barrier everything starts falling in perspective. Ask yourself, what happened back at the time? Are you really interested in that particular field or person? If not then maybe it’s time to start exploring what is best for you. You just need to boost up morally and power through it.
And if you are already following your passion and seem to fail at it even after giving your best efforts, then you need to re-evaluate your way of working. Like, start with the process or routine you follow and try to find out, at what point it went wrong. Seek for help who can guide you to rectify your mistakes. But giving up isn’t going to help you go where you want to reach.
It is very important to own our failures and accept the fact that we need to get better. Take full responsibility of your actions and be proud of yourself that at least your tried rather than sitting around doing nothing. No one is perfect! You might see people who are successful, bouncing on the path of fame and eating on a silver platter. But go and see their journey to where they are today, they have suffered a lot to achieve the life they are living today. They went through multiple failures to learn what they are best at doing at present date.
All of these benefits only apply when you let go of the past but take the lessons from it and move forward. All the people out there who are feeling bad about themselves and are feeling depressed, please believe me your life has really started now. Be hopeful and believe in yourself because working hard and putting your best efforts never goes in vain.
Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.
-Napoleon Hill.

Success isn’t over night. It’s when everyday you get a little better than before. It adds up.
– Dwayne Johnson
Hello Everyone!
Today I am writing about habits of highly successful people. From past few months I have been trying to implement few of them into my lifestyle and I really feel amazing change in my health and mindset. Some how I feel it changes the way you think as well. It is told by researchers that to implement any particular habit, it takes 21 days of repetition. If you stick to a habit for 21 days straight, your brain starts to get into the pattern. So I am going to list those habits down for you and I also encourage you to at least try implementing few of them into your lifestyle.
Self-Discipline and Consistency– Well discipline is big on successful people’s plate. This is one of the main reason for who they are today. Do you think an athlete will achieve success if he/she doesn’t have a planned routine for practice? If he/she is not consistent to practice everyday, can they win any game at all? That’s why it is very important to plan your days and stick to it every day if you really want to be successful.
They start their day early- Waking up early is always told as a good habit by our elders. But we hardly ever bother to consider it. But guess what, most of the successful people make sure to wake up early and start their day as soon as possible. I know its hard, at least for me it is really hard. But if we think about it, when we have a motive, we do get up on time. Like when we have to catch an early bus or flight. When we have planned a trip for a vacation, we are actually happy to get up early but why don’t we do that every day. That is because we lack a motive. If you give yourself a motive of why you need to wake up early, it might become easier every morning. Plus you get a lot of time for yourself and to get things done. Just think about the days when you are late and you take a shower in a hurry, you get dressed in a hurry and you even skip you breakfast. And in that process you go through lot of mishaps. you really don’t like those days, do you?
They make reading a priority- Successful people make sure they make some time throughout the day to read a book or articles or anything of their interest. Reading helps you to gain knowledge and also makes you confident and raises your self-esteem. It may be just for 15 mins every day but I suggest you make some time to read.
Take time for yourself- Everyday you should definitely make time for yourself when you can think about yourself. It’s called “self-reflection”. You think about “what you are doing in life?”. “Are you going in the right direction of your goal?”.
Think how you can make your life better. I suggest you do this in a peaceful time but not before going to sleep. It might make you stressful and you will end up losing sleep. It is better to have this alone time after waking up.
Stay Healthy- Successful people make their health a priority. They get up early and they also sleep on time to get the necessary hours of sleep. Well they do have to burn the midnight oil once in while but they make sure to get back into their routine. They exercise, may be not daily but they make time for specific days in a week. Some people say exercising helps them to release stress and keep focus throughout the day.
Set goals and get going- Well once you set a goal, you need to make an action plan. Successful people don’t laze around thinking, “Hey I want to achieve that one day”. Well that day never shows up. What they do is they make a plan of what needs to be done to achieve their goal and they actually start implementing the plan.
Don’t waste time- When you are passionate enough about your goal, you don’t waste time. There will be always something to do. Successful people don’t waste their time watching movies on a couch by eating pop corn. They don’t go to party every weekend at some club. They do it once they achieve their goals to celebrate. And whatever time they get, they spend it with their family or people who are important to them.
Stay focused and be honest- As I talked about being consistent in beginning, well it is really important. You need to stay focused and don’t give up when you fall after crossing a bump. If you are being honest to yourself, then you will never lose your focus. Just ask yourself, What benefit are you going to get if you keep lying to yourself.
Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want.
-Ken Poirot
