A tale of everlasting

Even wind is on your side
pushing me towards you
with all the forces killing
the chance of feeling your
crisp on my flame.

It scares me to touch you,
as you will melt away.

But I am hoping you will fall on me,
at least you will soothe my ashes.

I am wrong for you in all the levels
of life and you are deadly for me
with each flake you make.

How can fire and ice ever
exist side by side?

Yet together we create a picturesque
sight.

Book Review: The Bet by Anton Chekhov

Book Cover

The Bet” is a short story written by a Russian writer Anton Chekhov in 1889. It is a fiction story based on morality. Even though the story is short, Chekhov has shown what is the real beauty of life. Even though we are blessed wealthily in life, we generally take everything for granted. People don’t realize what actually matters in life for surviving. We never take in to account what the nature and society gives us on day to day basis to survive in this world.

It is an eye opening story and is definitely a must read. The story starts with a party where high level rich bankers and lawyers are socializing. And the discussion is going on whether capital punishment is worse than life imprisonment. They are debating that on one side capital punishment can be very brutal being death penalty and government shouldn’t take something that they cannot give back, on the other side life imprisonment is equally brutal as a person dies every single day being confined within a closed place with basic surviving necessities and no contact with the outer world.

When this is going on a young lawyer gets really furious saying that capital punishment is worse and for severe crime, life imprisonment is enough for redemption. At the same time a rich banker challenges the young lawyer that he would bet two millions if he could stay in solidarity imprisonment for even five year and survive. And to that the young lawyer said, if he would get two millions he can stay in solidarity for fifteen years.

And that’s when the bet starts. The young lawyer is kept in solidarity prison for fifteen years with no contact to outside. He is not allowed to hear or see anything that is going on outside. He is only given the privilege of food, books, wine and tobacco in his cell. He can ask for as many books or any kind of books he likes to read. He can get as much wine and tobacco through a small window in his room. If he completes his fifteen years then he gets two millions.

Now the suspense is will the young lawyer be able to survive this self imprisonment solidarity or will he fail? What will the rich banker do. Because two millions is a huge amount to pay for a bet.

To know what happens ahead and who wins the bet you need to read the book. 🙂

Change

The moments shared, a soul could have changed
The colors came up with vibrant names……
And a death came up with your name…..
Never thought a change in life
A change came up with torturing sense…
Past made things cruel,
the present came up with uneven breathing…..

Was it a decision towards right or opposite???

Never came such thought at that moment…

What comes now is a thought to CHANGE…

Silence………..

Silence an answer for questions…….

a moment that keeps your mind swirling around the thoughts

making u feel unstable.

like cutting you inside and tearing you apart

but yet keep your thoughts in guard.

Silence as an empty room…………..

a moment of loneliness keeping you cold with
a long speech of painful words and no ears to hear
making u depressed
but yet making you strong to survive.

Silence as iced tears……………..

a moment of flowing tears with no voids to fill up
scattering u with soundless ache
and no shoulder to hold on.
but yet giving you the strength to catch yourself.

Silence in thoughts……………….

a moment of clashes making the threads of your life tangled
and unsolved, compelling you to get in deep thoughts taking you to
a trance state
but yet making you matured enough to deal with life.

Silence in noise………………….

a moment of peacemaking you feel the surrounding
and your heartbeat.
giving a reborn sensation and tangible happiness
but yet making you alone all along.

Silence comes as happiness…………

a moment making you speechless due to the rejoice within
your heart taking you up the sky
comforting all emotions
but yet making your eyes watery.

The different phase of life with silence as a part
giving you joy and sorrow,
making you strong and weak.
judging your strength to deal with it…………..
Shhhhh…

Numb

The strings attached were broken……
The water drowning me in……………

I am trying hard to go up but my legs
are stuck………………………………

My lips are feeling numb……………..
Trying to shout out loud for help but
all I get is water in there…………….

I see the light of moon passing through
the water……………………………..
The sparkling air bubbles coming out of
nowhere………………………………
Darkness is powering over me………..
Still, I hope for a hand to hold me and
drag me out…………………………..

But all i feel is numb…………………
