Why failures are important in life?

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.
-Thomas Edison.

Photo by Everton Nobrega on Pexels.com

Well failure does hurt, doesn’t it?
When we fail, we feel as if our whole life has shattered. It hurts so much that we start questioning each and every aspect of our life. We get so demoralized that we give up at the same point. We feel ashamed of ourselves and think we are good for nothing.
Isn’t it right?

But we have so many examples in our society where people are very highly successful. And whenever they are questioned, how they achieved success, they start their story from the point of their failures. Why so?

That is because failure is a part of life. It is as important as is breathing. Is there is a single person who has never seen failure in life?
NO!
Do you know Walt Disney was told by his former editor that he lacked imagination and doesn’t have any good ideas. Can you believe it? A person who created all those cartoon shows was told that he lacked imagination!
J.K Rowling was broke, divorced, depressed and a single mother while she was writing the book “Harry Potter”. Her manuscript was rejected multiple times by many publishers and see where she is today. She is one of the richest writer in the world.
Do you know Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first job as a TV anchor and now she is a billionaire and has her own TV channel.

Take any field in life. Whether it is an exam, a job interview, a business that you started, your finances, relationships, any particular discovery and list go on and on. Everyone faced failure at some point in their life. Some people seem to fail in multiple fields as well.

What I feel is, failure makes us a much better and stronger person. Even when I failed in many fields of my life, every time I felt as if my life is done. It’s like everything seems darker and there is nowhere to go and nothing left to do. But on a longer run, I feel grateful that I failed. Because failure made me the person I am today. It gave me the strength to withstand anything that life throws in my path. It gave me the time to re-evaluate my flaws and seek out my interests.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

Many times we pursue something in life because of pressure, or by emotional force or maybe at times we don’t even know what we want from life. Like, maybe you are pursuing a career or a field of study because your family wanted you to, or maybe you think it is a stable field to get settled in life or maybe you didn’t even know any better what other things you can do in life. So you continued with the thing and ended up failing.
And then you started asking, “Why me?”
“What did I do wrong?”
“Why everyone else got good marks but I couldn’t?”
“Why they got the promotion but I couldn’t?”
“Why did my relationship failed?”
“Why am I even doing this if all I get is disappointment?”

Believe me, everyone feels the same, but once you cross this particular barrier everything starts falling in perspective. Ask yourself, what happened back at the time? Are you really interested in that particular field or person? If not then maybe it’s time to start exploring what is best for you. You just need to boost up morally and power through it.
And if you are already following your passion and seem to fail at it even after giving your best efforts, then you need to re-evaluate your way of working. Like, start with the process or routine you follow and try to find out, at what point it went wrong. Seek for help who can guide you to rectify your mistakes. But giving up isn’t going to help you go where you want to reach.

It is very important to own our failures and accept the fact that we need to get better. Take full responsibility of your actions and be proud of yourself that at least your tried rather than sitting around doing nothing. No one is perfect! You might see people who are successful, bouncing on the path of fame and eating on a silver platter. But go and see their journey to where they are today, they have suffered a lot to achieve the life they are living today. They went through multiple failures to learn what they are best at doing at present date.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com
  • Failure makes you more resilient in life. Once you recover from the internal turmoil you go through, you become much stronger person. You get the strength to face anything.
  • You gain a lot of experience in the field. You learn what works and what doesn’t. You gain knowledge as well on a much deeper level.
  • When you start to evaluate your process and re-map a better way of approach to it, you grow within you. You see everything from a fresh perspective.
  • Failure teaches you the value of success. Maybe before you didn’t take it much seriously because you were overconfident. But once you fail at it, you understand your own desperation to achieve it.
  • You realize that nothing is permanent. Failure or success, both are temporary in life.
  • Failure makes you fearless. Well once you fail, your fear is already gone. You already know how it feels and suddenly you go for it without any concern of failing again.
  • Failure keeps your ego in check. Since you have already faced it, you learn to appreciate other people’s struggle in life as well. You don’t diminish other people at their low point.
  • Your mindset changes towards your life. You learn the real meaning of life.

All of these benefits only apply when you let go of the past but take the lessons from it and move forward. All the people out there who are feeling bad about themselves and are feeling depressed, please believe me your life has really started now. Be hopeful and believe in yourself because working hard and putting your best efforts never goes in vain.

Ways to keep toxic people at bay!

Pay no attention to toxic words. What people say is often a reflection of themselves, not you.
– Christian Baloga

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

How many times have you felt suffocated by your surroundings? Does it makes you feel like bursting into flames? Or do you feel like drowning yourself? Well may be you need to understand that you might be living in a toxic environment. Often we are in company of bunch of self-absorbed people who always belittle you for every move you make.

As human beings, we tend to live in a group of people as so called “society”, we often cross path with some particular kind of people who are very difficult to tolerate. And doesn’t matter how much we try, we cannot avoid them. Honestly it’s not worth the energy to even try. So we make up our mind to just adjust with the situation. We socialize with this people day in and day out without a choice. And when we do that somehow they get the power to mess with our brain and feelings. And we let them.

But can you really save yourself from this torment? Of course you can! We have a tendency to please people around us and that’s what gets us in this problem in first place.
“Will I look bad if I try to fight?”
“Will it be rude to stand up for myself at this situation?”
“People will talk about me if I say this out loud?”
“Will I lose my job if I object?”
“What if I end up alone if I avoid these people?”
Sounds familiar right!

I go through this situations as well. And when we keep our feelings and anger bottled up for long time, we become depressed and frustrated. At times we end up hurting people who are actually good and important to us. People who actually care for us. How is that any good? But may be we can change that. May be if we know how to deal with toxic people, we can stay happy and live with a healthy mind set. I am going to list down some ways to keep these kind of people at bay.

Photo by Zachary DeBottis on Pexels.com

Recognize the toxic nature- First we need to recognize who are these people and what kind of nature they have. Do they make you uncomfortable with there statements? They are negative about anything and everything you do. They will always discourage you for any action you take for your own betterment. When you share your creative ideas, they might make fun of you and joke around in front of others. Don’t worry, it’s not about you. It is about them never coming up with anything good by themselves. And you cannot change them by any means. You can’t save them from their own hell.

Set limits and boundaries- Set boundaries about socializing with them. I understand it is not always possible to avoid these people all the time but try reducing it to minimum. Meet them or talk to them when it is really necessary.

Be on the positive side- You need to believe in yourself first. Be so confident about yourself that no one can break you with snarky comments. If you have goals to achieve, then stop listening to people who underestimate your ideas. Don’t show them your weakness, or they will some how find a way to creep inside your head again. Self preservation should be your main motto. Remember it is their own self incompetence that makes them behave that way.

Break it off- If it is intolerable just break it off. It is definitely not worth it to keep these people in your life, if all they do is break you from inside. You may lose some more friends along with them but at least you will learn to live with your dignity intact.

Learn to stand up for yourself- At times you have to fight for yourself. Because when you stay quite, you give them the power to control you and your brain. You start behaving the way they want. If you are in a situation where you feel insulted and humiliated, just say the things that you believe and walk away.

Photo by Ketut Subiyanto on Pexels.com

Try making healthy relationships- Try making new friends or try hanging out with people who really appreciate your presence. What’s the point of hanging out with people who talk about you in a bad way when you are not around. People who are true to you and actually like you, won’t talk bad about you or make fun of you behind your back. So hang out with people who actually care about you and help you grow in life. Who can have your back when you try to conquer the world.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambition.
-Mark Twain

Book Review: Girl in room 105 by Chetan Bhagat

Hello Everyone!

Here is my next book review.

Click on the above image to buy.

I read this book and I can say that it’s a total page turner. Meaning you can’t stop yourself to read it till the end. People who have read other books written by Chetan Bhagat will find this particular book very refreshing. First time he has written a murder mystery book and I was euphoric to read it. The story was very well outlined.

This book has everything in it, murder, suspense that’s gonna keep you on edge, heartbreak, terrorism, politics. Well in a way everything is covered.

The story is about a guy Keshav and a girl name Zara. Keshav is a former IIT student who falls in love with a girl named Zara from Kashmir and obviously she is very beautiful, in a way every guy’s dream girl. She is smart, talented and very popular. Where Keshav is a son of senior RSS member and Zara is a Muslim girl from Kashmir you can understand what a controversial and dramatic story it can be. While Keshav is struggling with his career to get a good job in a good MNC IT company and is teaching in coaching center to survive, Zara is pursuing her PhD in IIT Delhi. They fall in love and have an amazing relationship and eventually they breakup because of family unacceptance and mutual disagreement. Suddenly after four years of breakup Keshav gets text messages from Zara on her birthday night to meet her like old times to reconnect, that’s when the story actually starts. Because when he reaches to her room to wish her happy birthday, he finds her dead.

Obviously he is shocked to death and in the same time he himself falls into a terrible position. Because when he sees the love of his life dead in front of his eyes he also becomes a prime suspect to her death. How he gets out of suspects list and gets the urge to find the actual killer is a thrilling journey. The story is narrated by Keshav throughout the book and as he calls it is an “unlove story”. And then Keshav starts digging for clues with the help of his best friend/roommate Sourav to find the real killer. Hopefully you will find this book as riveting as I found it.

Habits of Successful People

Success isn’t over night. It’s when everyday you get a little better than before. It adds up.
– Dwayne Johnson

Photo by Gerd Altmann on Pexels.com

Hello Everyone!

Today I am writing about habits of highly successful people. From past few months I have been trying to implement few of them into my lifestyle and I really feel amazing change in my health and mindset. Some how I feel it changes the way you think as well. It is told by researchers that to implement any particular habit, it takes 21 days of repetition. If you stick to a habit for 21 days straight, your brain starts to get into the pattern. So I am going to list those habits down for you and I also encourage you to at least try implementing few of them into your lifestyle.

Self-Discipline and Consistency– Well discipline is big on successful people’s plate. This is one of the main reason for who they are today. Do you think an athlete will achieve success if he/she doesn’t have a planned routine for practice? If he/she is not consistent to practice everyday, can they win any game at all? That’s why it is very important to plan your days and stick to it every day if you really want to be successful.

Photo by Joseph Redfield on Pexels.com

They start their day early- Waking up early is always told as a good habit by our elders. But we hardly ever bother to consider it. But guess what, most of the successful people make sure to wake up early and start their day as soon as possible. I know its hard, at least for me it is really hard. But if we think about it, when we have a motive, we do get up on time. Like when we have to catch an early bus or flight. When we have planned a trip for a vacation, we are actually happy to get up early but why don’t we do that every day. That is because we lack a motive. If you give yourself a motive of why you need to wake up early, it might become easier every morning. Plus you get a lot of time for yourself and to get things done. Just think about the days when you are late and you take a shower in a hurry, you get dressed in a hurry and you even skip you breakfast. And in that process you go through lot of mishaps. you really don’t like those days, do you?

They make reading a priority- Successful people make sure they make some time throughout the day to read a book or articles or anything of their interest. Reading helps you to gain knowledge and also makes you confident and raises your self-esteem. It may be just for 15 mins every day but I suggest you make some time to read.

Take time for yourself- Everyday you should definitely make time for yourself when you can think about yourself. It’s called “self-reflection”. You think about “what you are doing in life?”. “Are you going in the right direction of your goal?”.
Think how you can make your life better. I suggest you do this in a peaceful time but not before going to sleep. It might make you stressful and you will end up losing sleep. It is better to have this alone time after waking up.

Stay Healthy- Successful people make their health a priority. They get up early and they also sleep on time to get the necessary hours of sleep. Well they do have to burn the midnight oil once in while but they make sure to get back into their routine. They exercise, may be not daily but they make time for specific days in a week. Some people say exercising helps them to release stress and keep focus throughout the day.

Set goals and get going- Well once you set a goal, you need to make an action plan. Successful people don’t laze around thinking, “Hey I want to achieve that one day”. Well that day never shows up. What they do is they make a plan of what needs to be done to achieve their goal and they actually start implementing the plan.

Don’t waste time- When you are passionate enough about your goal, you don’t waste time. There will be always something to do. Successful people don’t waste their time watching movies on a couch by eating pop corn. They don’t go to party every weekend at some club. They do it once they achieve their goals to celebrate. And whatever time they get, they spend it with their family or people who are important to them.

Stay focused and be honest- As I talked about being consistent in beginning, well it is really important. You need to stay focused and don’t give up when you fall after crossing a bump. If you are being honest to yourself, then you will never lose your focus. Just ask yourself, What benefit are you going to get if you keep lying to yourself.

Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want.
-Ken Poirot

Book Review: Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Click on the above link to buy.

Hello Everyone!

So I read this book recently “Midnight Sun” by Stephenie Meyer. It is a companion novel to the book “Twilight”. The Twilight book came in 2005, in which the whole story was narrated by the female protagonist Bella. It was Bella’s side of the story with her perspective about her love story showing her compassion for Edward even though he is a vampire. But in the entire series, we never got to know Edwards thought or his feelings about being in love with a human.

Well people who loved the Twilight series, for them this book is a treat to sink their teeth into. You are going to know Edward’s struggle about his feelings for Bella while his thirst is overpowering his senses. How he falls in love with a human being when all his senses are pushing him to just quench his thirst for blood? Well, this book is going to tell you all about it. Being a vampire, Edward is also gifted with the power of reading people’s mind and hearing everything that is going on in their head. And also he is much faster than other vampires. Well, the twist is he can’t read only one particular human’s mind and obviously it’s Bella. These things are already told in the book Twilight. But in Midnight Sun you will get to know how this particular twist makes Edward curious about the girl he wants to kill the most in the entire world. How his curiosity overpowers his normal senses and reflexes and while he tries to figure this girl out he falls in love with her.

It’s quite funny and romantic, the way Edward tries to figure out Bella by just talking to her and asking her about her favorite books, movies, food, color etc. Well, normal human beings get to know each other the same way, while they make guess and make mental judgements. But being a vampire with the ability to read minds, trying to figure out a human without this ability is very irritating for him.

In this book, you will also get to know more about Edward’s family. You will get to know in detail about Edward’s foster parents and foster brother and sister. And how they react to the addition of Bella into their life.

People who haven’t read the Twilight series yet, even they can also start with this book and if you like the story then you are definitely going to read the Twilight series as well.

Ways to stop worrying about what others think about you!

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.
– Albert Einstein

Photo by Eternal Happiness on Pexels.com

Hello everyone
In our society people often spend half of their time thinking what others are thinking about them. Even I do the same. But are you really being fair to yourself? We suppress our wishes and dreams just for the sake of people who actually doesn’t matter much. I mean is someone else going to live your life for you. We care too much about what society will think. We don’t give our own happiness much priority and go against what is actually right for us. I feel it is really the norm of our so called “society” which pressurize us to do what they feel is correct. They try to control our life and steal the happiness and our right to live a fulfilling life. I mean we really live once. Right!!!

We plan so many things for our future and make course of actions, and these people they suddenly jump into an opportunity to criticize us for it and say that it is a wrong thing to do. And eventually we end up doing what others want us do, which makes us miserable and unhappy. It takes real courage to stand up to this people and go through your plan. And once you succeed, the same people will be standing by your side saying that, “We are really happy for you and we are proud of your success.”.

Have it ever occurred to you that may be these people also did the same thing in their life by being pressurized by others? And they want you to do the same as well, because they don’t know any other way.

At times even your own family members will be standing against your wishes. The same family members who love you and want you to be happy, be safe and well-settled. But until and unless you are happy, can they be happy around you? I don’t think so. It is really like a process which people have created through rules and regulations which you have to follow and stay in the pothole where there is no escape.

But to really be happy in life and really achieve your goals, you have to break some rules. And for breaking those rules there will be some consequences which you actually have to go through for a certain span of time. Once you have crossed that barrier, the world will be your oyster. I know it is easy to say but difficult to implement. But have anyone achieved anything without a struggle? Or will you feel accomplished without going through the struggle?

NO!!

Today I want to share few ways with you all which might help you in surviving those situations and really go ahead with your choices. People will talk. Today it is you, tomorrow it will be someone else. But it is you who have to live your life.

Focus what is important for you.
If you focus really on what is important to you, then you can ignore all those chatter easily. Because you will be busy taking the actions towards achieving what you want in life.

Love and accept yourself.
People will point out your flaws all the time. Keep in mind that those are the flaws in their eyes because it is an inconvenience for them. They will say lot of bad things about you, behind your back because they can’t really handle you. So it is their problem. You need to love yourself the way you are. Own yourself.

It’s your life.
Well if you break your leg, will some else go through the pain while your leg is healing? No right? Then if something wrong happens in your life, will someone else struggle for you. It is your life! You have to live it. No one is going to live your life for you. It is you who have to take full responsibility of your life. If you make mistake, it is you who have to fix it. If you are successful, it is you who is going to enjoy it. Others can be there for you in your happiness and sadness, but they can’t really live it. So think about what you are going to do.

People don’t care that much.
We spend lot of our time, literally wasting our time being anxious over what everyone will say. “What they will think.” Well flashing news!! People don’t have that much time. Everyone is busy trying to survive their own life. No one has that much time to think about what you are doing. And if there are such people, then think like this that “they really don’t have anything better to do with their lives.”

Photo by Naveen Annam on Pexels.com

Keep perspective.
Other people opinion is often based on their own life principles and experiences. What they think is good may not be good for you. What is working for them may not work for you. Every person has their own personality and thought process. You have to discover what is best for you and work it out
.

Don’t go for perfection.
Perfection is actually over rated. At times flaws gives you the best experience. If you keep trying to be perfect for others, then you will surely fall way down on your own peace of mind.

You can’t please everyone.
If there are ten people around you, can you make everyone happy? Each person will have their own choices, is it your job to fulfill everyone’s demands? It is nearly impossible to please each and everyone. In one way or other, you will make some one sad. But that is okay. You don’t need to be a people pleaser.

You know what is best for you.
When you visualize your dreams, you know how much happy it will make you to achieve those in reality. And you know it will be the best thing that you can do for yourself. So don’t hesitate. Live your dreams and do what is best for you.

Honestly what other people think in their own time is none of your business.
Really I don’t need to say anything here. Will you be offended if someone blames you for thinking something in your head in your own time? Of-course you will be. You will immediately say that, “It’s none of your business”. Then why do we make it our business by what others are thinking in their head in their own space.

Photo by Elly Fairytale on Pexels.com

Life is too short.
We never know how much time we really have to live on this earth. And it is really not worth it to waste this short life by being anxious, worried and sad.

Spend life with the people who make you happy, not the people who you have to impress.

I hope you can find those points helpful in some way and ease yourself. Please like and follow my page to get the future updates from my website and please write your suggestions below in the comment section to help me improve my posts.

That’s the thing about books.
They let you travel without moving you feet.
– Jhumpa Lahiri

Hello everyone.
Many times you must have read a book which would have kept you so engaged that you couldn’t stop reading it till end. You might have forgotten to eat or even sleep. Right!!! Well I know it does happens a lot of times, mainly while reading fictional books. Today I am going list few books which I couldn’t stop reading till I reached to the end.

Affirmations- How does it really works?

If you really think small, your world will be small.
If you think big, your world will be big.
-Paulo Choelho

Photo by Marcelo Chagas on Pexels.com

Hello everyone.
In life we face lot of emotions on daily basis. Sometimes good and at times bad. We go through lot of ups and downs, due to which our emotions are always on a roller-coaster ride. Specially with current pandemic situation, we all are feeling a bit gloomy. We all are emotionally down because somehow our life is not going the way we want or the way we have planned it to go. In such situation it is very difficult to stay positive and feel confident about yourself. In such times how to keep those self sabotaging thoughts and stress away from us?

What are affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements that we tell our self repeatedly to challenge our sub-conscious mind to stay in a positive mindset despite of the situation. Its a way to keep the negative thoughts at bay.

“I am happy.”
“I am confident.”
“I am good at what I do.”
“I am worthy.”
“I am enough.”
“I am healthy.”

These are a few simple examples of affirmations. It can vary on with situations and person of-course. Saying such statements to yourself every day can boost your confidence as well as can make your mind work in extraordinary ways. Its kind of meditating when you say those affirmations to yourself. You can do this early morning or at night before going to sleep. Or anytime that works for you. But do this in a clam state of mind.

Some people do this when they are meditating, saying in mind again and again. But you can say it to yourself out load or by writing it down in a journal everyday. Motive is to say it as many times till it takes to believe it by heart. I usually write it down in my journal everyday in the morning. I list down all the things I am grateful about and then I write all the affirmations I need and say it in my mind.

Photo by Niko Twisty on Pexels.com

Honestly I feel it is life changing. After doing it every day you will experience a change in your mood and in your state of mind as well. Those positive affirmations makes you believe in your self and eventually you can see the change in yourself. With each day you will be more confident in achieving your goals. Suddenly you will realize that the things that used to make you nervous or stressed will seem much easier. It is our subconscious mind that starts believing that we can do it and directs our actions in the right direction.

I have been doing this from a long time and I can say it with guarantee that it really does works. Try observing the areas you feel weak or the areas of your life that you want to change. And keeping those areas in focus, and writing down positive reinforcing statements on a piece of paper. Then read those statements to yourself everyday as many times as you can. And then see the change yourself.

Fairy tales- what we took out of these stories?

If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.
– Albert Einstein

Hello guys.. I hope everything is going good for you. It’s going good for me as well.

Fairy Tales

So today I was remembering my childhood times when my mother used to tell me stories everyday to get me to eat my food. While making me eat she used to tell me lot of mythological stories, fairy tales and historical stories as well. I was so mesmerized by the stories that I used to eat my food without any complain. And my mother had to repeat those stories again and again on my request.

The thing is when we read these stories, we always like the endings. It fascinates us that with so much of troubles also the characters get their happy endings. It is always said that the fairy tales always have a happy ending. And we also wish the same for our life.

Eventually when we grow up and face reality of life. We choose to believe that fairy tales are actually made up stories to entertain children. But is it like that though? Is it merely a story to keep the children engaged and happy? Does happy ending really doesn’t occur in real life? Have you ever wondered about this? I guess no. Till day there are a lot of grown up people enjoy Disney movies with fascination, as if it is an escape from reality for two hours of our tedious life. And lot of people just ignore it saying, “It has no reality to it. Its just animated stories.”

Well I think we need a new perspective to this entire topic. I agree, after growing to a certain age and having a reality check, I also thought that okay fairy tales never really come true. Being said though I never really understood those stories. Watching all those fairy movies, Disney movies and Barbie movies too, I was always fascinated by the character’s beauty or charm or the happy endings. I never really paid attention to the moral of those stories.

Cinderella and Prince Charming

If we look into each and every story, we can see that the characters have taken lot of courage to change their life and get their happy ending. Like Cinderella would’t have met the prince of her life if she would have denied to take the risk of going to the ball dance. Of course she made a wish and God mother fairy made it possible for her to go to the ball dance in beautiful dress and a pumpkin ride. But what if she never had the guts to make that wish, or what if she was scared to take the risk of going to ball in disguise and returning before midnight. She would have never gotten the happy ending she wanted. But she grabbed the opportunity to live one evening of her life happily and that became her forever after. Same goes for Snow white, Rapunzel, Mulan, Tinker bell, Sleeping Beauty and even Beauty and the Beast. In Beauty and the Beast, if Belle hadn’t showed the courage to free her father and take his place in the Beast’s palace as a hostage, would she have gotten her happy ending. Or would Beast have become a Prince again, if he wouldn’t have accepted his rude behavior and changed it for love? I don’t think so!

Beauty and the Beast

Deeper meaning resides in the fairy tales told to me in my childhood than in the truth that is taught by life.
-Friedrich Schiller

People say fairy tales poisons our mind from the reality. I say fairy tales teach us lessons which we ignore in long run of our life. In each and every story, we can see and learn that life is all about taking chances, grabbing opportunities, showing courage and taking risks.

Now a days we watch so much of super hero movies and read comics, and we still ignore the lesson it teaches us. We read this comics and watch this movies as entertainment where as there are lot of hidden lessons behind it. Like taking risk and using our technology for good purpose and serving for the good of human kind and fighting the bad or evil. Isn’t that what is the gist of those movies and stories. But we watch it for the actions and dramas.

Ways to stop procrastination..

You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.
– Abraham Lincoln

Procrastination is like a credit card: It’s a lot of fun until you get the bills.
– Christopher Parker

Hello there everyone.

So today I am going to talk about something I was also doing a while ago. And I really needed some push to avoid it. Procrastinating is one of the issue a lot of people face on day to day basis.

Have you been trying to avoid a certain work or task that is actually on a target to be done soon? Have you set some goals for yourself which you always think you are going to achieve “someday”? That yoga class which you always plan to start next “Monday”. Sounds familiar right!!!

Well, it’s really not a good trait to have in the long run. Eventually, it becomes a habit and it makes you lazy. After some time you feel like you are nowhere in life. And people around you don’t take you seriously either.

I am going to list down a few ways which helped me and maybe you can relate yourself with those and try to change a few things in your life too.

1. Change your mindset – Its one of the most important key to change or remove this particular habit out of your daily routine. First, it is very important to be determined to do whatever you wish for. Say positive affirmations to yourself every day to become confident that you can do this. Every morning when you wake up, say it to yourself,” I can achieve anything I want”.

2. Discipline – Having a disciplined lifestyle improves your productivity to the highest levels. Keeping your day in order helps you to do the tasks on time and achieve the best results that you expect from yourself. Try to gain the will power to follow the routine that you set. If you set your alarm at 5 am then get out of bed at the same time without hitting the snooze button. If you have put a particular task in your list to be done today, then do it today, unless you have dependencies on others to do the work which is reasonable.

3. Start simple – Generally, when we set goals for us, we tend to go a bit over the board. Even though we sometimes don’t know how to do things or how to start. And eventually, we get frustrated and give up. Do some research on the task and how to start with it. Be well prepare knowledge-wise about it before you start. Take baby steps initially and once you get the understanding, start exploring till you actually do it.

4. Start making To-Do Lists – Making a list of the tasks that need to be done is the easiest way to keep a track of your work. First, make a list of all the goals that you want to achieve and then make sub-lists for each goal with the steps that need to be done. And every time you go through each step, you can cross it out of the list. And to motivate yourself you can set some rewards for yourself with each small achievements.

5. Assign a particular time for the tasks on your lists– As we discussed it is better to have a disciplined life, you can set some time limit for each task. And try to stay within this assigned time to get the best result. It might happen that sometimes you might not be able to complete it within that time set, but there is no reason to panic. We are after all humans, not some machines which can work on codes. So if you ever feel like you are getting behind of your time schedule, just adjust it within your routine. There must be some other task which you can finish in lesser time but you might have given more time limit to that task just to be on the safe side. So modify those limits and you are good to go.

It always seems impossible until it’s done.
– Nelson Mandela

6. Stop trying to be a perfectionist – Often people try to be perfect and try to control every aspect of their life which makes them exhausted. Believe me, I am one of those people. But if we see out of the picture, it is just not possible. Some times we try to do things in our way and get carried away from the real goal. If you are assigning any tasks to others, then have faith in them and guide them to do the task in their way. If you will keep controlling everything, you will definitely end up being a failure on a bigger picture. Which is really devastating. Try to be realistic and give your best at your work.

7. Make failure a positive thing – People often fear failure, I mean it’s a natural thing actually but have you ever thought about. Every time we fail at something we learn our own slackness. We learn our limits. And it is always said that if you want to succeed you have to push your limits. Just because you might fail, doesn’t mean you should never try. Yes, you might fail but you might succeed at it too. Isn’t it worth the risk? At-least you will learn something new in life and you will try again.

8. Lack of knowledge – Has it happened to you ever that you want to start doing something but never did because you have no idea at all how to do it. It is a common thing when we feel we don’t know something we tend to give up easily. we make up our mind that we will fail without even trying. This is where you need to take that step where you show your determination and eagerness to learn something new. Dedicate all your time to explore the whole field and gain knowledge until you feel confident to start the task in real-time. Anyways there is no harm in learning something new right and you are already interested in it. Then find the source of help you can take and get started with it.

9. Remove distraction – If you are already determined to start with your work then maybe there will a lot of distractions in ways which will divide your attention. It is very important to stay focused to achieve a particular goal. So try to figure out the unnecessary things which are consuming your time without giving you any benefits and get rid of it from your routine. But that doesn’t mean you will start avoiding your time for family and friends.

10. Visualize the result – Best way to motivate yourself and stop procrastinating on a particular task is to visualize that the task is already done. Can you imagine that you have already finished it? How does that make you feel about it? Does it feel peaceful? Do you want to go through that feeling of accomplishment? Well then get started, dear. Because this time ain’t gonna come back again.

In certain ways, we all feel like we need to move forward in life but we don’t really do anything about it. I hope the above-mentioned points will help you to stop procrastinating in your daily life. And you get to that point of life where you feel like “Yes, I finally did it!”
